Wednesday - Message from Trekking Parents

Todays Trek began with a mass scrum of Wall Catchers - these are mainly ladies who hound you to carry your bags along the Wall. Believe us they do not take 'no' as an answer and it was quite an emotional experience for us all. Once those who wanted the service of Wall Catchers were paired off, we set off.

The Gubeiko Walk was the longest and most challenging to date but at the same time, it was the most stunning, scenic and emotional.

The majority of the Wall was extremely old, decayed and in need of major restoration. This made scrambling along it at times very challengng, especially for those with short legs!!

As parents we would like to sincerely thank all those who have contributed, supported and taken part in this endeavour. These include previous parents, friends, family members, BP staff, staff at Newick House and sponsors.

From Parents of Jamie, Alex, James, Oliver and Sammy.

WOW! You guys really got a good workout today. I can see why this was the most difficult and emotional trk so far. All of you should be very proud of yourselves as we are of you here at the Tomas household. This is even more challenging than I thought it would be.
Christine, VERY proud of you for going on even with ur bad knee, hope the rest of the days will be better. Remember Cap Haitien where the locals would also follow tourists around all day just for a few dollars, there was no way to get rid of them.
Pictures are stunning as always. look like postcards except for the sweaty people.
Again, good luck with ur trek tomorrow, looking forward to todays blog.

Well done everyone for today, it was extremely grueling, however I did like the idea of someone to carry my bag. (I wonder if we can get them back here!!) A special vote of thanks to the techie team, who have worked v. long hours today trying to get everything sorted for tomorrow. Good luck with the link tomorrow, fingers crossed that it goes ok. The backup is in place however.

Hi everyone, sounds like you are still glad you went, overall, and aches notwithstanding! The football match is really exciting but still 2-0 to us at the moment with half and hour to go. All the new neighbours send their best wishes and lots of people are following you on the blog - it's really great.Paul S you are very quiet and keeping a low profile in the pictures too, are you still there? Not much time left now to Freecycle the last few bits....looking forward to seeing you again on Sunday.

Don't listen to what your sister and neighbour say; everything's a disaster!! The house has burnt down, the kids have run away and the cat was yesterday's dinner!! Come home soon... on second thoughts, stay in China. Life must be better!!!!!

Keep going girl. Everyone is very proud of you. All The Casuals send there love, as do the Scrummies. Slippery keeps having hot flushes and Pumper keeps busting into tears. Nanci thinks she's having contraptions but I've told her they're hickory stumps!! Buzz is just emotional!!!

Looking forward to seeing you on the link up 2mrw.

Luv you loads
Marc xx

Hi Melinda & fellow trekkers,

Football finished 3-0. Got to see the second half while eating my dinner, no bath for the boys tonight - have to get your priorities right.

Two good strikes from Owen and a third from Rio Ferdinand - a collector's item that one! Owen got MoM but it should have been Gareth Barry who really combined well with Gerrard to make the team tick. (Up the Villa!)

Today's photos were the best so far, I'm getting quite jealous. Don't worry though, I've got some brochures out to see where I can go next year.
