Daily Log - Mutianyu
From Julie King, Trish Stepney and Tom Brown
After a 10 hour flight and very little sleep we had our first sight of the wall today - WOW. It is even ore impressive than we had expected.
We walked in temperatures of 32 C for several hours, climbing houndreds of steps (honest - see the pictures) - definitely not a walk in the park.
the scenery is stunning so we'll bring back lots of photos to share with you all.
Today we had another real treat. We did not walk down off the wall but we rode back on a tobagan - what fun! We then spent a short time at a chinese market in a small village at the base of the wall. Spent hundreds of Chinese yuan (20.00 in English money). The stall holders were all very keen to help us spend our money.
We are definitely looking forward to the next 4 days of walking.
See you all soon.

Well done everyone. Scenery looks slightly better than the view i currently have from my desk.
Good to see everyone is shopping as soon as they get off the Wall.
Keep up the good work
Matt
ps Steph- the washing up is piling up at home, awaiting your return
What amazing photos. Julie - I didn't you see in many - were you lagging behind or up in front?!!?
We've all been trying to add comments at school but the site was blocked which is why you've had no response from any of us until now. It's not that we haven't been following your progress.
There's a real buzz here about what's going on and we're looking forward to the live link on Thursday.
Drinks are on me when you get back!
Hello you three, It's so exciting looking at the photos- you must be really exhausted, but I imagine you feel an inner glow of achievement too! We did look at the Trek China website in assembly today and read some of the early blog comments, but couldn't see the photos at school. However, there's no problem getting all the functionality of gthe website here at home. You all look as if you are coping well, despite the heat.
I just can't believe the steep steps going on.. and on.. and on in the photos- they really do show the gradient you've walked up, which doesn't always happen in photos in my experience.
Thinking of you all. The whole school is rooting for you and for all the other trekkers.
Best wishes, Gill
Hi you lot - well what can I say - its looks a really punishing walk - i feel a ladder would have been helpful on some bits. You are all doing amazing - I hope you are really enjoying it all and soaking up the atmosphere. Keep Shopping (always a plus in my book) Take care - see you soon.
Best Wishes, Shelley.
